Lachlan Fleetwood is a historian of science, geography, empire and environment. He joined UCD as an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow in 2020, following the completion of his PhD at the University of Cambridge. Parts of his research have been published in the journals History of Science, Itinerario and Notes and Records, as well as in the forthcoming SAGE Handbook of Historical Geography. He is currently developing a new project titled “The ‘Habitable Globe’: Science, Geography and Environment in the Indian Sub-Empire,” and is also completing a book on the role of global comparison in nineteenth-century scientific and imperial understandings of the Himalaya.
